COPPER HILLS GOOD SAMS
PIONEER RV PARK, QUINCY, CALIFORNIA
APRIL 27-29, 2012
The meeting was called to order at 10:35 a.m. by
President Gary N who led the Pledge of Allegiance. We had 10 rigs in attendance. The minutes of the February 2012 meeting were
read and approved.
Suzie S. gave the Treasurer’s report as
follows: Beginning balance as of April
28, 2012 is 1,563.28; receipts were 9.00, no expenditures, leaving an ending
balance of 1,572.28. It was moved and
seconded to accept the Treasurer’s report as read. Motion carried.
Verna presented a bill for 60.00 for the deposit
on the group campsite at Rye Patch for the May campout. Randy indicated it had paid 60.00 for the
deposit on the Boy Scout camp for the October campout. It was moved, seconded and approve to Randy
and Verna be reimbursed.
CORRESPONDENCE: Candy indicated that she had sent the flyer
to everyone for the June campout to be held at Gold Point on June 21 thru
23. She also indicated that she would
send the May flyer out for the Rye Patch campout on May 17 thru 19th.
Gary had received information regarding the Good
Sams Clean-Up Days of May 19 and 20th. Mary indicated she has clean-up bags that the
chapter has never used. Pam moved to
attempt clean up at Rye Patch on Saturday with the permission of the park
rangers. It was seconded and the motion
was approved.
Gary also had correspondence from Pat and
Leslie, CPR instructors from Oregon, indicating they would come to a meeting or
campout and offer training in CPR. The
cost is 30.00 per person for four hours.
Verna suggested one couple take the training at
Red Cross for frewe and come back and train the rest of the chapter. Jim S.
moved that we were not interested and Randy seconded, and the motion was
approved.
UNFINISHED
BUSINESS: Shirley and Mary had
designed and displayed four samples for the individual rig flags, plus there
was another sample made by Mary with red, yellow and blue piping around
it. The consensus was to use sample
number 2 and there was much discussion back and forth as to whether we wanted
the piping, should the word “Nevada” be in yellow, etc. Suzie S. indicated she would take home the
sample, work up a graphic and bring it to the May campout for a final vote.
Gary asked Candy to send an email note along
with the May flyer asking membership if they wanted to purchase a flag for
their rig and if so, to please bring the money to the May campout or send to
the treasurer if you are not going to attend.
The cost will be around 15.00.
Gary announced that at the Spring Samboree in
Pahrump, he and Mike D took the Chapter Champions flag for bocce ball. The team from the membership-at-large
actually won the tournament, but since they don’t give the flag to
members-at-large, Gary and Mike got to bring the flag home.
Verna indicated that we would play bocce ball at
Rye Patch for those who would like to.
Copper Hills also took first place in bean bag
baseball at the Spring Samboree.
Regarding a charity for this year, it was once
again moved, seconded and approved that we leave that on the table for now.
Gary suggested that we talk among ourselves,
with other people with regard to campout locales for 2013 and bring suggestions
to the August campout in Hope Valley.
Pam indicated she needs pictures from the Quincy
campout for the blog which is www.copperhillssams.blogspot.com.
NEW
BUSINESS: Candy indicated that she
and Jim would be missing the campouts in June, July and possibly August and
said she would understand if the chapter wanted to replace her as
secretary. There were no volunteers, but
Pam said she would fill in when needed.
Gary reported on the Cracker Barrel held in
Pahrump and some of the highlights are as follows:
The Silver Log will no longer be sent to the
membership. You can view it on line at www.nevadagoodsam.blogspot.com .
The Samboree in Winnemucca in September will
start on Wednesday; early bird will be on Tuesday. There will be no Thursday night meeting, they
will have entertainment instead. They
will have two different drawings for the 50/50 drawing with two different
ticket colors.
Bean bag baseball will be held inside this year
on Saturday. The State officers will
also be looking at the rules of the various games for possible changes.
The State Treasurer needs an assistant. Please bring names/suggestions to the Fall
Samboree.
The 70.00 prize pool was once again brought
up. It was moved and seconded and
approved that Copper Hills not
participate in the 2013 prize pool. It
was suggested Gary send a letter to the State officers regarding Copper Hills
opting out of the prize pool for the door prizes and that the cost be brought
before a State board for re-evaluation.
If anyone needs more information regarding the
Cracker Barrel, please contact Gary.
Gary indicated that he had a listing of Good
Sams members who had not paid their membership dues. He and Candy double-checked our membership
and everyone is fine.
Randy indicated the October campout at the Boy
Scout camp will be held the weekend after the Fall Samboree in September with
the hopes that the weather will be better than the last couple of years.

W celebrated birthdays.
